Identify a Ju 88

Hello,

Could somebody identify a Ju 88s crashed in South of France, whose engines and other pieces of wreckage were recently found ?

Information about this aircraft :

- place of crash (in fact an emergency "landing") : pond of Galabert, in Camargue (South of France)
- engines (found both) : Jumo 211
- date of crash : some days after 13 August 1944
- found ammunition : 7,92 mm and 20 mm
- tyre : Continental 1944
- writings on the engines :
// engine n°1 : - F 7686 KUd 7672 (on an aluminium crankcase)
- on the "stand" (right english term ?) : L9 211 107 018 and 18 9 42
// engine n°2) : - on an aluminium crankcase : F 9541 KUd (15)27 (the numbers 1 and 5 are not sure)
- on an other piece of this engine : KLI 9-211.107-018 11-3200.8

Besides, close to the engines, were found 2 plates :

// plate one (8,5 cm x 4,8 cm) :
Werk. Nr. 76226
Motor Type. Ju 88 A5
Werkstoff. 10102
Theodor-Klatte
Bremen-Huchting

// plate two (same size than the previous one) :
Werk Nr. 36996
Motor Type. Ju 88 A4
Werkstoff. 10102
Theodor Klatte
Bremen-Huchting

An armoured plate, from the nose of the aircraft, was found, too. Zestörer unit ? ...

Many thanks in advance

Re: Identify a Ju 88

My best guess would be a Ju 88 C-6. B y August of 1944, operations in the South of France would seem a little late for KG 40, so what unit it was from seems indeterminate, I willscan the NJG C-6 losses after 13 Aug 44 to see if anything shows up.

Best Regards,

Artie Bob
