Re: Two more Tomahawks

Hi,
One "LD-U" was AK829 but it went to 112 Sqdn.
Some other 250 Sqdn a/c were AK346;AK369;AK374;AK376;AK381;AK398;AK403;AK412;AK 416;AK545.AK552.

"TA-U" Could it be AK484 tyre burst landing u/c collapsed Sidi Barrani, 2.10.41.
Or AN370;AN375;AN396 or AN411.All had crashed or forced landings .

Re: Two more Tomahawks

Hi Michele.
Unfortunately can't help with this.
Is there no date, location mentioned.
I think the only chap that has the codes is Buzby in Oz.
I think he is away at the moment. Will try to get hold of him.
Alex, Have you done code vs serial crosswalks for the Tomahawks??
Are all those serials 'U' Tomahawks??
Regards

Re: Two more Tomahawks

Hello Stefaan,

Sorry to confuse - No - only AK829 was "LD-U".
Other serial numbers just added as they were either 250 or 2SAAF.

Re: Two more Tomahawks

Hi Alex, Stafaan and Michele

Just a quick update, hopefully I can add a little more later. The Aircraft of 250Sqdn is not AK829, this aircraft was a Kittyhawk Ia, not a Tomahawk which is shown in the photo. The serial Number of this aircraft would be difficult to work out due to the limited nature of information available on 250Sqdn during the Months from Oct 1941-Feb 1942.

Maybe Michele might be able to advise if any information was obtain such as where when etc for the photo.

Re: Two more Tomahawks

Hello everyone!
Informations are very poor.
Pictures are numbered and that of of DX is 43066 a little before of LD that is 42933 (a few days?). But the soldiers clothing look more like mid season. As amatter of fact numbers of other pictures semm to make no sense.
The only information is that LD has been shot down North of Segnali, and I have no idea where that is. For TA nothing at all.
Buz, remember I'm waiting for your return....by the way...can you tell me what other reckord do you have on that period.
Thanks
