8./SG 3 loss - 24th April 1944

Can someone points me out to the werknummer and codes of the Fw 190 F (or was it a type A) flown by Uffz Lother Darsow, from 8./SG 3, killed on the 24th April 1944 to the SW of Sevastopol, apparently by a direct hit of Russian AA (Flak).

My gratitude

A.

Re: 8./SG 3 loss - 24th April 1944

Hi!
To know the Wr. Number from you'r F190.

The first attack modification with production deliveries to Luftwaffe at the end of 1942 Fw-190F-1 (about 30 airplanes) Build - version of the production fighter Fw-190A-5/U3 in turn basing model Fw-190А-4, but equipped a reinforced landing gear, additional armouring.

Then models Fw-190F-2 with the improved cabin (271 airplanes) Build...

Fw-190F-3 with the changed design of a wing (about 250 airplanes) Build

Fw-190F-8 on basis Fw-190A-7 (385 airplanes)Build.

So here a Total amount of 936 Fw190F version was Build! Ok?

Now to identify you'r unit plane. from 8/SG3. the history it say:

First information found
Quote:
In the spring and early summer of 1944, the number of assault units that received the FW 190F / G increased significantly. So, in the central sector of the Eastern Front (in Belarus), and then in the Baltics, III / SG 3 fought. From mid-summer, III / SG 4, which had previously operated in the West, joined it
Source in Russian language: http://www.airaces.ru/plane/voennye-...lf-fw-190.html

And here the 8./SG3. was sub unit from III/ SG3. ok?
https://www.ww2.dk/air/attack/sg3.htm

and you'r information:
Quote:
killed on the 24th April 1944
So if all sub unit from III. Group have receive on this time FW190 F-8???
So it possible as
Quote:
Uffz Lother Darsow
have receive old plane on time it was shot down.

now next information:
Quote:
The next plane would have been the Fw 190F-3/R3 with two 30 mm MK 103 cannons mounted under the wings. It was not produced because of negative test results from the similarly armed Fw 190A-5/U11 (W.Nr. 151303), which proved too heavy. In addition it was realized that the MK 103 cannon munitions could not penetrate Russian T-34 tank armour. Only three Fw 190F-3/R3 with two MK 103 cannons were built.

The Fw 190F-3 planes were produced until April 1944 in the Arado factory in Warnemunde. 274 F-3 planes of all versions were produced.
........
Fw 190F-8
This model was produced in greatest numbers of the all of the F series planes. It was produced based on the A-8 airframe. Production started in March 1944 in the Arado factory in Warnemunde and in the April 1944 in the NDW-Wismar factory.
https://www.ipmsstockholm.org/magazi...g_fw190_02.htm

But:
Quote:
III group. Formed on 10/18/1943 in Bagerovo from III./StG3 as part of 3 squadrons (7-9th). The group was armed with Ju.87D aircraft, from April. 1944 - FW.190F.

The headquarters were located: Bagerovo (10–11.1943), Karankut (11.1943–4.1944), Pardubitz (5–6.1944), Kangari (9–10.1944), Frauenberg (10–12.1944), Zabeln (12.1944–5.1945).
So here the delivery from March production by Arado Werk, has enter on III./SG3. Start April 1944, or on End April 1944, so after Uffz. Darsow was killed?

So to Darsow plane, it can are Old Ju87 plane, or coming yes from First March Month production from Arado Werk.

http://fw190.hobbyvista.com/werkn.htm
look here under Werk. Number 588000 = Arado factory number for production of FW 190 F8.

https://englishrussia.com/2014/03/19...pol-in-photos/

here photo from one FW 190 Shot down on airfield from Chersonese. Shot down from Soviet Aviation not from Flak unit. Nothing information about real date, if this was 24 April, or any day before.
And on this same date 24 April, Soviet Marine enter in port of Sebastopol, so if realy shot down fron Flak unit, so why not from Flak unit from Ship....

Leclerc - very good analytic conclusion.
MATTI - Again my deepest gratitude for clarifying and the most relevant information I was looking for.

I thought it was an old Fw 190 F version that he was flying on that fateful day. Thanks Matti we do have the werknummer, codes and type of machine flown.

Hey Adriano

You forgot to give Mattis his usual beer.
I think we all owe him so much that he can start up his own restaurant in Tampere and just use what
we supply him with....
(Sorry Matti, just couldn't resist..... )

Cheers
Stig

Yes, one more beer....guess that the Bear he will put aside at this time of the year.
If he comes to Brazil, he will drink freely during his stay here, be sure of that.
Good one Stig and I laughed a lot here....you surely are counting those beers...and if you come along we will drink together.

I sure love that Adriano, sure love that.
Just been to Brasil once, not counting a cruise stop, and remember so well an ice cold Caipirinha
in the middle of the Amazon region on a big raft in one of the tributary rivers.
We stayed there for three nights....

Cheers

Re: 8./SG 3 loss - 24th April 1944

Stig,
Am really happy that you have been there and to Amazony. I flew for some 5-6 months there when I was with Fugro Airborne Survey, a Dutch company that works with Surveys around the world. Good times...flights by the middle of night until the morning. On several nice flights up the middle of the Amazon Forest, we could count hundreds of falling stars, when the sky was clear. Good memories.
But I also do have good memories from England, including the White clifs of Dover that will remain in my mind for the eternity. I went twice in June-July and boy, for our standards here, the Channel waters were really COLD. I just can not imagine what those RAF and LW boys had to face on ditchings during the winter or autumn times...if I feel cold in early July! And your ALE...we could drink one full life and not taste all brands you do have....and they are tasty...I now understand why the Englander had to pass on the Pub before going home....One do have to feel that to comprehend....
Next time you do come, do send me a message...we surely will meet...
Friendly yours,
Adriano

Re: 8./SG 3 loss - 24th April 1944

Indeed Adriano

I have also fond memories of England. Must have been there more than 20 times. Once it even felt like
a second home to me. To be honest, it still does!!

Good ale indeed and if you can find those Pubs who are run independently so much the better.

We better stop here unless we get scolded by our Moderators....

Cheers Old Boy
Stig
