Belly landing of a Me 109 in Greece
Hello,
The pics are from an e-bay offer with the description Jagdflugzeug Bf Me 109 JG 52 Wappen weiße 4 -> Notlandung Griechenland 7.04.41. The plain can`t be from JG 52, since this unit arrived after the 25 of May in Greece. Any ideas? Unit, crew? More? The town in the horizon is Lamia. Ι just noticed the emblem, it belongs actually to Stab JG 52, so the plane too, the date of 7.04.41 is not valid

See JFV 5, page 300 to see various aircraft from I.(J)/LG 2 sporting the JG 52 badge. Aircraft are hand-me-downs: JG 77 aircraft seen with JG 54 badges.

You are right Don, thanks, but we still don`t know more about this aircraft. Stab JG 52 was never in Greece

Re: Belly landing of a Me 109 in Greece
According author Gerard Stemmer in LRG
" During February and March the I./LG2 was subordinated to JG52 at the channel coast and therefore applied the JG52 Geschwader insignia to it's planes. This insignia was used by the unit until the end of the fighting in Greece."

Re: Belly landing of a Me 109 in Greece
Hi Byron,
It should be W.Nr.3439 of 1.(J)/LG 2 which crash-landed at Trn airfield in Bulgaria on 7 April 1941. Cheers, Boris |

Interesting Boris, Last time we saw this machine you wrote, with same conviction, it was WNr.4106... OK now it's easier, we have a date: As I wrote yesterday, elsewhere "wow, it has been shot before being shot" Cheers, Franck. |
