Stab IV/JG27 Loss, 12.07.1944.

A Hauptmann Otto Meyer was lost near Caen in a Bf 109 G-6, has anyone the Werk Nr of his aircraft, or even better, a copy of the NVM.
Thanks
Joe

Hi Marc,
Thanks, that is the number that I was hoping for, it is mentioned in "Crashed enemy aircraft" report 245-27.07.1944, it mentions the wooden tail in some detail.
Otto Meyer is still listed as MIA, the VDK tell me that his widow was still looking for his grave as recently as 2008.
Thanks again
Regards
Joe

You're most welcome, Joe. Any interesting reference to camouflage or tactical number in your report? There is no tactical number or sign given in Frappé 1999...

Cheers
Marc

Re: Stab IV/JG27 Loss, 12.07.1944.

Hi Marc,
No, sorry, the report states that the aircraft received a direct hit in the nose from a Bofors gun when flying at low altitude, then dived into the side of a house and was badly broken up and buried in rubble, and no operational markings could be identified, only the Werk Nr.
There is no mention of the pilot.
You mention G.R.Morrison as a source, please enlighten me.
Cheers
Joe
