Finnish pilots on the 21 May 1943

I have the following Finnish pilots of the HLeLv 34 but I'm not sure of the correct spelling in English and ranks.

10:00-10:45 All at Lavensaari except the last.
Lt. George Turkka I-153

14:35-15:45
Mauno Kirjonen I-153
Lt. Tauno Saalasti I-153 (I believe Saalasti was the one rammed or just collided in a head on pass by Serzhant Anatoliy Viktorovich Sitnikov of the 71 IAP KBF (3 AE) who was KIA)

18:40-19:55
Lt. Kyosti Karhila La-5
Klaus Alakoshi two LaGG-3

18:45-20:00
Capt. Kullervo Lahtela Il-2
Antti Tani Il-2
There seems to be only one Il-2 shot down and that was the Il-2 flown by Serzhant Vasiliy Grigor'evich Yakovenko of 7 GShAP KBF who was KIA).

19:10-19:20 Seiskari
Maj. Eino Luukkanen La-5

Re: Finnish pilots on the 21 May 1943

Thank You Juha, I ran across the Finnish claims while looking at the ones for 7./JG 26. Actually at Narva it appears they got 2 Pe-2 and three Yak-7 but were to late to save the railway bridge. The Soviets said that they were attacked by 20 Fw 190 but I think that no one would have returned if that were the case. All the claims there were by two pilots. They then went to Lavensaari to support the Finns but again thank you for the new information.

Hello Folks!

Not sure if this is relevant, but perhaps is a little bit of interest: old thread Mietusch 7./JG26, Leningrad area & three-color camo Fw 190s http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=8108

Cheers,
Kari

Re: Finnish pilots on the 21 May 1943

I just was looking at the time zone differences for this battle at Lavensaari and 7./JG 26 arrived after Turkka made his claim of an I-153. That explains why the Soviets thought that it was a Fw 190 that Sitnokov was believed to have "rammed".

On the 21 May 1943 10:00 - 10:45 in the area of Lavansaari (now Moshchny), WO Yrjö Turkka of LeLv 34 shot down an I-153. Can it anyone tell me what number this was in his score.
