museums to visit?

Guys, I am taking a Viking River trip in Oct/Nov from Prague to Amsterdam. I am wondering if there are WWII museums worth visiting in Prague, Budapest, Vienna, etc. I know about the Resistance Museum in Prague and the WWII Museum in Nuremburg. Keep in mind we will have limited mobility from our river docking points.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

THX!

BTW, please settle an argument: we pronounce Prague with the G. I've always heard that it is pronounced Praha. A local lady from there confirmed this. Is that correct?

The Kbely museum in Prague. I've not been, so can't say how easy it would be to get to/from.

Re: museums to visit?

For the Netherlands you could visit our new Defence Museum at the former airforce base Soesterberg.
See https://www.nmm.nl/en/

If one of your stops is at Arnhem in the Netherlands you could pay a visit to the museum about the former Luftwaffe base Deelen.

Or the Aviodrome at Lelystad.
Let me known if you cannot find the webpages of these museums.
If you are interested in more local museums, e.g. at Volkel or Gilze-Rijen airforce base, give me an email.

Jaap

Re: museums to visit?

John,

Also in Prague you can visit the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius where the Czech partisans who assassinated Heydrich were hold up and died.

In Budapest is the Museum of Terror, a cold war museum about Russian occupation. And up on the Fisherman's Bastion there is an underground hospital that dates from WWII and can be toured. Artillery damage is visible on some of the buildings up there.

Cologne: http://www.museenkoeln.de/ns-dokumen...315.aspx?s=315 (former Gestapo HQ in Cologne; a rather sobering experience)

Amsterdam: www.verzetsmuseum.org/museum/en/museum (Dutch Resistance Museum)
