Re: LUFTWAFFE INSIGNA

Hi, Gilles...

I believe this is a dive bomber clasp, as below. Item can be seen at http://e-militaria.com/catalog/germa..._FBL/index.htm

Regards,

Paul

Re: LUFTWAFFE INSIGNA

Just to add:

Frontflugspange für Kampfflieger is the german name

They came in 3 classes, bronze, silver or gold. Bronze for 20 flights, silver for 60 flights and gold for 100 flights.

A good link regarding fliegerspangen; http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/war_...ing_clasps.htm

The one you are showing looks gruond dug, is that right? Unfortunately there are many replicas/copies/fakes on the market, be careful if you are going to buy it.

Best Regards
Peter

Re: LUFTWAFFE INSIGNA

thanks Peter, for this very interesting link;

in fact, I am not contemplating to buy this insignia: this one I show was found by a friend of mine in the south west of France, in a public garden, not far from a German Luftwaffe base.
It is very likely that a German pilot lost it while walking around.

my friend may be even willing to offer this insignia for sell;

good evening

Gilles

PS: My english is not good enough to understand the meaning of "gruond dug" can you elaborate ?

Re: LUFTWAFFE INSIGNA

Gilles,

Ground dug, Google translates it to "sol creusé". Found in the soil, it has been under earth. I think your friend found it there.

Best Regards
Peter
