Re: Feldpost Nr L38980
Stab NJG 1 had this number until middle 1941 when it changed to L 38324, according to the Feldpostübersicht.

Re: Feldpost Nr L38980
Thanks-that would indicate that Oblt Gerhard Boehmel was the Gesch Adj of NJG 1

Re: Gerhard Boehmel and Feldpost Nr L38980
Hello Chris,
Boehmel (born 6-11-1913) was Offz. zbV. with the 3./NJG 1 in July 1940, must have changed to the Stab NJG 1 and then to the I.NJG 3. All the best, Marcel Hogenhuis

Re: Feldpost Nr L38980
Marcel-Gerhard Boehmel was with 1/ZG 76 hence his move to 3/NJG 1. I have a letter signed by him dated 29 Mar 41 and annotated 'Oblt und Geschw. Adjutant'. I have him being killed with 3/NJG 3 28 Feb 42

Re: 1/ZG 76 < > 3/NJG 1
Hello Chris,
Though it is well known (G.Aders, Geschichte der deutsche Nachtjagd etc.) that in September 1940 the 1/ZG 76 (Hansen) was used to form the new 3/NJG 1, the fact that in the days after the creation of I.NJG 1, pilots from I.ZG 76 were already listed to have joined the I.NJG 1, is quite new for me. Since 'your' I.ZG 76 and my 'I.NJG 1' have so strong family ties, I will search the dates available from the I.NJG 1 perspective which could help you to fill in the last days of good old I.ZG 76. I do have an unpublished authentic history about I.NJG 1, written during the war, which is quite revealing about the first two years of this unit. Best wishes, Marcel
