James S. is on a distinguished road
B-17E 41-2656 "Chief Seattle"

When "Chief Seattle" was shot down over Rabaul August 14, 1942 would she still have had U.S. ARMY on the underside of the wings or would it have been painted over by that time?

Thanks,
James Sontag
