Roger Borne KIA 20 april 1945. Trained at 39 SFTS
Hi,
Roger Borne killed in action just 65 years old ago. Flak shot him on 20 April 1945 close to Friedeburg. He posted with n°341 from March 1943 to 20 April 1945 and was the last KIA with n°341. He was the first Free French pilot who had his wings in Canada at 39 SFTS in May 1942. Does anybody study the career of his former friends ? LLoyd, Leeson, Minchin, Bank, Lambert, Alston, Paige, Butler, Codbale, King, Bush, Miller, Mansfield, Coulbran, Parker, Davies, Reid, Sveleny, Smik, Lister are some of names that I have been able to decipher at the back of a photography of 45 pilots of course 48 at n° 39 SFTS in Swift Current (Saskatchewan) from february 1942 up to mid 1942. Roger Borne was the only Free French airmen amongst them. I have any info concerning his training in Canada and the logbook of Roger Borne is not held in the family's archive. TIA Bertrand |
