Re: Bert Grimshaw DFC

Hello Phill,
If I have read them correctly details from the London Gazette are -
RAFVR
P/O from 30 Sept 41(LG 18/11/41,page 6643).
F/Lt from 30 Sept 43.
D.F.C with 228 Sqdn ( LG 28 March 44 page 1444).

Also may be DFC was connected with the sinking of U-106 ?
F/Lt Grimshaw was pilot of Sunderland III JM708 which was lost due to an onboard fire, over the Bay of Biscay on 17/01/1944, all crew were rescued.

Also may be connected:
Not of the same crew -
F/Sgt Robert Arthur Morrison 228 Sqdn received the DFM date 28 March 44. He was Tails Gunner in JM708 a/c"N" in the sinking of U-106.

Admirable to be sure, but I am moving this as it is not particularly related to where it is posted.

Re: Bert Grimshaw DFC

Hello John,
Surely it would have been correct to have removed the complete thread to the General section rather than just the one post , originally post 4 ?
