S Sheflin will become famous soon enough
Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Greetings,
Post #5593 - This Bf 109 K-4 is one of few examples where both its raised oil filler hatch and CWSDH (Cold Weather Starting Device Hatch) are visible in the same photo.
Note also, its “K” radio access hatch, large upper wing bulges, and its rearward-positioned DF loop.
Of particular interest, its wooden tail unit features what may be a rarely-seen curved lower wooden rudder profile (unless it was just damaged in the crash).
Also, its WNr. was applied to its upper fin, and its vertical yellow III-Gruppe bar is broader than its yellow plane number “2.”
Finally, it has what appears to be a roughly-applied 8, 3, or 9, remnants of the “last-three” of its WNr., peeking out aft of its RV band.
Respectfully,
Steve Sheflin

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Given all the circumstances and visible information this is very likely an aircraft of III./JG 27. Is it known which colors this Gruppe used for its Staffeln?

Cheers,
Christian

I believe it's a Blue 2 white outlined as usual.
Cheers,
Franck.

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Thanks Franck!
Don't see the white outline tbh, but either yellow or blue it is.
