Stucky. 50th FG

I am new to the site so bear with me.
I am with the curator staff at MAPS Air Museum www.mapsairmuseum.org
We have received a USAAF uniform plus other items donation that belonged to a George J Stucky. George was a pilot with the 50th FG, 10th FS in '44 and '45. The family know little about George's service and so MAPS is seeking additional information as his records were destroyed in the St. Louis fire.
There does not appear to be a 50th FG Association of any kind. Is this a good site to ask for information on an individual...or not? I would appreciate knowing. Many thanks.

Re: Stucky. 50th FG

Stucky was assigned to the 10th Fighter Squadron in April of 1944 and stayed with it, I believe but am not 100% positive, until late April or early May of 1945. His serial number was 0-697599. The unit records for the 10th, on microfilm at least, are very skimpy. He made no air to air claims and this squadron (and the 50th Fighter Group) did not keep very good track of claims against enemy planes destroyed or damaged on the ground. The biggest problem I have found with the entire group is their records for the most part are not to be found after November 1944; after joining the 1st Tactical Air Force (Provisional), their records ended up who knows where. Hopefully someone else has some answers for you.

Re: Stucky. 50th FG

Many thanks for the reply and his serial number. It's good to know about the lack of Group records and info.
