anyone have the Rechlin 190A4 test chart?
Sadly, I don't have a Fw 190A-4 test chart, but I have ground level speeds at climb and combat power (2400 rpm) for W.Nr. 619, which I think was one of the 30 a/c modified to A-4/U3 form, and for W.Nr. 669, which was a A-4/U8 TF+FQ. This is from "Flugleistungen F W 190 mit Abwurflasten" of 9.2.43 (9 Feb 43). The main part of the report consists of calculations for various loads at ground level and critical altitude. Then, it gives the comparable values as flown by Flugabteilung, Wensendorf, in the above two a/c, but only for ground level.
If you want them just say so. George PS. I also have various values from British reports based on the first A-4/U8 they captured, but think they have been calculated, not flown. They also give values for the 109G with 250kg bomb and two underwing drop tanks. Hmm, I wonder if the 109G could have taken such a load? |

Fw 190 A-4 calculations and flight tests
On 9.2.43 Focke-Wulf issued a report entitled "Flugleistungen Fw 190 mit Abwurflasten." While the Fw 190A-4 is not mentioned as such, the two a/c mentioned by W.Nr. are A-4s.
The first part of the report gives calculated values for the a/c in various guises. I. All values are for the Fw 190 at Climb and Combat setting (2400rpm). With wing area of 18.3 square meters. Surfaces filled, sprayed, and polished. Internal supercharger intake. Adjustable cooling exit flaps. Narrow (enge) cowling. Flying weight: 3850kg. Weapons: 2xMG17 + 2xMG 151 0km - 550kph 5.7km - 646kph Flying weight: 4100kg Weapons: 2xMG17 + 2xMG 151 + 2xMG FF 0km - 544kph 5.7km - 636kph Flying weight: 4200kg Attachment: ETC 501 Weapons: as above 0km - 531kph 5.7km - 615kph Flying weight: 4400kg Attachment: ETC 501 Ordnance: SC 250 Weapons: as above 0km - 505kph 5.7km - 584kph Flying weight: 4650kg Attachment: ETC 501 Ordnance: SC 500 Weapons: as above 0km - 492kph 5.7km - 563kph Flying weight: 4400kg Attachment: ETC 501 Ordnance: 300l drop tank (full) Weapons: as above 0km - 501kph 5.7km - 576kph Flying weight: 4200kg Attachment: ETC 501 + ER 4 Weapons: as above 0km - 522kph 5.7km - 604kph Flying weight: 4400kg Attachment: ETC 501 + ER 4 Weapons: as above 0km - 510kph 5.7km - 589kph II. A/c as for I. But with underwing drop tanks. Flying weight: 3850kg Weapons: 2xMG17 + MG151 0km - 550kph 5.7km - 646kph Flying weight: 4000kg Attachment: ETC 501 + 2 streamlined Ju 87 drop tank holders Ordnance: two 300l drop tanks (empty) Weapons: 2xMG151 0km - 467kph 5.7km - 536kph Flying weight: 4460kg Attachment: as above Ordnance: two 300l drop tanks (full) Weapons: as above 0km - 464kph 5.7km - 528kph Flying weight: 4250kg Attachment: as above Ordnance: SC 250 + two 300l drop tanks (empty) Weapons: as above 0km - 450kph 5.7km - 510kph Flying weight: 4500kg Attachment: as above Ordnance: SC 500 + two 300l drop tanks (empty) Weapons: as above 0km - 440kph 5.7km - 493kph Flying weight: 4000kg Attachment: as above Ordnance: ER 4 + two 300l drop tanks (empty) Weapons: as above 0km - 462kph 5.7km - 529kph Flying weight: 4200kg Attachment: as above Ordnance: ER 4 + Four SC 50 + two 300l drop tanks (empty) Weapons: as above 0km - 453kph 5.7km - 518kph The calculations for this ordnance load are uncertain. The actual speed could be between 5-10kph faster. III. Test flown in W.Nr. 619 (Possibly an A-4/U3). Flown by Flugabteilung Wensendorf. Flown at 0km, and Climb and Combat power (2400rpm). Internal supercharger intake. 2 x MG 17 + 2 x MG 151. Non-adjustable cooling flaps (Kiemen). Wide (weite) engine cowling. Test No. 1 on 4.11.42. Test flown in W.Nr. 669 (A-4/U8) on 11.1.43. Flown by Flugabteilung Wensendorf. Info as for W.Nr. 619, but with narrow cowling. With ETC 501 + 2 streamlined Ju 87 drop tank holders - 3756kg - 471kph With ETC 501 + 2 streamlined Ju 87 drop tank holders + two 300l drop tanks (full) - 4260kg - 456kph With ETC 501 + SC 250 + 2 streamlined Ju 87 drop tank holders + two 300l drop tanks (full) - 4510kg - 445kph Sorry that it's not really very exciting material, but it should give you an idea of Fw 190 speed losses with various types of ordnance.
