Fly Off Alexander Barr RCAF
Hi,
I have the following on Fly Off Alexander Barr J-26504 RCAF. Alexander Barr was born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1920. He attended Queen Mary School and the Hamilton Technical Institute. After leaving school he worked for Bennie Electrical Company. Alexander joined the RCAF and gained his wings in April 1942. Prior to being posted overseas he was an instructor at Fingal and Bagotville. On arrival in the UK he was posted to 55 OTU. From here he was posted to 263 Squadron in September 1943. On 14 October 1944 while flying Typhoon MN769 he collided with fellow pilot Flt Lt Evans in R8926. Both pilots were killed. Can anyone add any other details such as when he was born, when did he join the RCAF and what was the date of his promotion to Fly Off. Thanks, Alex

Re: Fly Off Alexander Barr RCAF
Hi Alex;
Hopefully, you'll be able to obtain the info through this forum; however, if not, I would recommend checking out the Canadian Council of Archives - Ottawa, Ontario info@archivescanada.ca. I found them extremely helpful in obtaining detailed military information concerning my great uncle (1914-1919). Also, the county museums can be a good source of information. Since Flying Officer Barr is from Hamilton that would place him in Wentworth County. In searching my great uncle's war record, the serial or registration number that is assigned to enlistees when they are enrolled into the military can set you on the "fast track" for obtaining information. Good luck with your search.
