B-17 306 BG 423 BS 11 feb 1944
Hello
Having a look in MACR 2527, we find some crew members statements indicating that the plane suffered a fighters attack but according to the pilot it was dammaged by Flak. What is the good one? Regards |

Pilot -
# 42 - 31388 Lt. Betta Crew Hit by Flak at IP - #3 Engine knocked out. After Bombs Away- Hit by Flak , left Wing. Fell out of Formation and Hit by FW 190s B - 17 Caught Fire , 9 Crewmen Bailed out BT Gunner KIA by 20MM from Fighters. From Book: First Over Germany , 306th BG , by Russell Strong Pages 203 -204.
