Hello,

Hptm Ernst-Georg Altnorthoff of 8./JG 27, claimed a C-47 SW of Hofgeismar (25 km N of Kassel), on 4 April, 1945.

Re: C-47 serial 43-48944 (04/04/45)

Colin (Michel)

According to Prien et al, Altnorthoff belonged to 6./JG 27.
Checking a map, II./JG 27 was based at Völkenrode on this date which is pretty much in Northern-Central Germany (east of Hannover)

Altnorthoff claim at Hofgeismar is slightly north of Kassel, some 85-95 kms from his home base (very roughly calculated) and certainly in his range area.

If I interpret the place where the C-47 came down (between Uckendorf and Niederkassel) that is far more to the west, pretty close to the river Rhein, much, much further away.

Unless there are other very similar place names making me barking completely up the wrong tree these two incidents are not related.

Cheers
Stig
