III/KG 26 bases Feb 41
I have III/KG 26 moving from Poix Nord to Chervillers (?) 2 Feb 41 (2 logbook sources) and then to Le Bourget 19 Feb. Larry and Doug have them moving to Grevillers whilst some sources say they went to Achiet and then to Le Bourget. can anyone confirm one way or another the existence of Chervillers/Grevillers?

Re: III/KG 26 bases Feb 41
Having looked at google, between Grevillers and Achiet Le Petit appears to be a disused runway so it would appear that the German spelling was incorrect and Grevillers (with an accent over the e) is correct

Re: III/KG 26 bases Feb 41
You are right Chris. This place was built by the RAF, extended by the Germans and was used to host various KG with various equipment, most often Ju-88.
Its name is officially Irles/Grévillers, but was dubbed by the German as Achiet or sometimes Bapaume/Achiet. JVM |
