Re: Arado Flugzeugwerke: Aircraft and Development History
Finally
Volker told me about this project some time ago. His first book in English I believe. About time!! I hope it sells well, so we can get something on Heinkel as well. Cheers Stig |

Re: Arado Flugzeugwerke: Aircraft and Development History
I'd certainly be very interested in his treatment of the Ar240, in view of the multiple errors and inconsistencies in most earlier works. (Including the article in the latest Aeroplane, which is too strongly based on the earlier Lang work with some peculiarities of its own.) It will be particularly interesting to compare his history of the type with the deeply researched version of Dr. H. Mankau.
Key features I'd be looking for are the relationship (if any) between the V7 and the A-05, the identity of the aircraft flying recce missions in 1944 (A-04?) and the design of its wing. The identity of the aircraft flown by Eric Brown? Of course, new photos would be welcome, particularly of the previously unpublished examples, but one can only dream... |

Re: Arado Flugzeugwerke: Aircraft and Development History
Hi Jay,
Is this a reprint of the 2007 original German version: "Arado Flugzeugwerke: 1925-1945"?

Re: Arado Flugzeugwerke: Aircraft and Development History
Hey Huib,
I will have to ask the author; however, I believe it consists of fresh material and imagery. Apologies for the brief message as I have a lot on today in terms of admin and e-mails! Jay |

Re: Arado Flugzeugwerke: Aircraft and Development History
I can confirm this book contains new material as I dug out a fair amount of new material for Volker for this book at Duxford and I'm quite sure he has added new material of his own. I haven't seen the final draft so I can't say exactly what it contains of the material I found but I certainly was able to dig out some interesting and previously unseen material so I'm looking forward to seeing this.

Re: Arado Flugzeugwerke: Aircraft and Development History
Graham-you mean the Flypast article? Trouble is until now, the only work available was Lang's and whilst going through it (as thin as it is) there were contradictions. At least the Götz story set the operational testing into some kind of context. For this new book we still have to wait until next year!
