10.(Jabo)/JG 2 pilot

Dear All,

Can someone assist with the surname of the pilot Hans, who might have flown with 10.(Jabo)/JG 2, fallen on 3 April 1943, as per the attached photos?

Buried at the soldiers cemetery at Abeville, France.

Regards,
Sinisa

Don't have my book on Jabos to hand but the answer should be there-if not 10/JG 2 it will be IV/SKG 10

Re: 10.(Jabo)/JG 2 pilot

From Chris' book there was no loss of 10./JG 2 or SKG 10 on 3 April 1943.

There was one Jabo pilot killed, Uffz Fritz Ebert of 10.(J)/JG 54. His Fw 190 A-5 WNr 0835 Black 11 was shot down by AA fire off Eastbourne at 1145 hrs.

Re: 10.(Jabo)/JG 2 pilot

Sidney,

why do you declare this pilot a Jabo-pilot?

This was most probably Uffz. Hans Hieß from 6./JG26 who was killed on 3.Apr.43 and the photo shows a belly landing during his training with 2./JGr.West.

hello Sinisa,

Is there any unknown emblem on this Fw190 cowling?
Looks like a Flamingo ...

Hi,

Looks to be the 10.(Jabo)/J.G. 2 emblem to me, while the code style is that of J.Gr. West, so presumably a hand-me-down FW 190.

Cheers,
Andrew A.

Re: 10.(Jabo)/JG 2 pilot

I thought that Abbeville was away from 10/JG 2's more usual Caen area of operations
