Re: Messerschmitt Bf 109T, Alfred Jakobi

Hptm Ochs had left 9./JG 3 by September 1940 so these are not really pertinent?

That's true Chris, he led III. Gruppe stellvertretend after the wounding of Balthasar in September, then took over the Ergaenzungsstaffel at St. Jean d'Angeli.

Albrecht Ochs is one of only 6 airmen who achieved acedom only by a combined WW1+WW2 score. The others are Edouard Corniglion-Molinier, Alfred Helm, Alfred Müller, Robert Nast and Stanley Vincent.

Re: Messerschmitt Bf 109T, Alfred Jakobi

That's interesting, and what are the odds that two out of the three Germans served together in the same staffel?

Alfred Müller was St Kap 4./JG 3 until 16 Aug 40 so presumably you are referring to Erg.Gr./JG 3?

I think they flew the Bf109E and this book is about the Bf109T. It might suffice to confirm if Alfred Jakobi is the top scorer of that subtype but it is currently unavailable in Switzerland.

Re: Messerschmitt Bf 109T, Alfred Jakobi

Chris, I'm referring to 4. JG3, which Mueller was CO of during the French campaign. My uncle was attached to the unit as supernumerary Kapitaen to gain combat experience.

Re: Messerschmitt Bf 109T, Alfred Jakobi

Hello Chris and Vince,

Alfred W. Müller scored 2 or 3 kills in WW1. It would be intrigueing to see if his WW2 kills were counted as numbers 3-5 oder 4-6.

Have a good Thursday,

Michael
