Excellent performance of German airmen
„Excellent performance of German airmen.
Berlin, 11. September 1939. During the combat flight behind the front line deeper into Poland territory, one bomber a/c was forced to emergency land at Diskov near Tluscz. Crew of another bomber plane decided to help comrades and landed near the malfunctioned a/c. Under the fire of Polish grenades, both crews set on fire broken plane to prevent its captivation by Poles, and took off in the other a/c.” Hi all! Does anyone know more details about cited incident? Was there more happenings like this during September 1939 campaign in Poland? Thanks in forward Boris |

Re: Excellent performance of German airmen
Hi Boris,
this accident occured on 10.09.39. In north-east of Wolomin one Do 17Z from 5/KG3 (crew of Staka Hptm. Ernst Puettmann) was brought down by Polish AA fire. The another a/c from this staffel (commanded by Olt.Trueber) landed immediately beside the downed Dornier and saved the crew. Regards Robert P.S.
