Ju88 shot down 16/3/44

Hi guys

Rather vague, but has anyone a note of a Ju88 being shot down as it came into land at an aerodrome near Paris (Villaroche?) on 16 March 1944?

Cheers
Brian

Brian,

Dont know if this helps Ju188 of 11/KG2 shot down while on a training flight to Villaroche on this date. Fj.Fw. Fliess plus three killed (see Ulf Balkes Book),

Re: Ju88 shot down 16/3/44

Thanks Brian and Chris

I have a note that P/O Bill Cross of 175 Squadron claimed a Ju88 as it was approaching to land, but was then hit by AA fire, crash-landed and POW.

Cheers

Re: Ju88 shot down 16/3/44

Typhoon and Tempest Story has P/O Cross claiming a Ju188 at Villaroche, then falling to Flak in JR319 POW. KG2 book shows attack at Villaroche by 3 Typhoons at 1630hrs with loss of the Ju188 of FjFw Fliess, plus Ff Gef Schneider and Bf Ogef Mattig injured, no aircraft shown as damaged so assume these two were on the ground when injured.

Thanks Brian

I should have checked the obvious first! I thought I had found a 'new' claim!

Cheers
