Ju188 cockpit instrument.

Could anyone confirm that this is a clock from the pilot's control stick from a JU188? The wooden surround was provided by a German POW at Bardufoss.

Re: Ju188 cockpit instrument.

Having looked at the various clocks featured on www.German.Luftwaffe.com it does indeed look very similar to some of the examples featured there. I'd imagine that if there were any Fl. markings visible, you's have made mention of them... if there are and you didn't mention it, please let us know what the Fl.number is...

Cheers

Re: Ju188 cockpit instrument.

Hi!

Nah, that clock is not the type used in the column. The typical clock used in he Ju88 Control Wheel was the usual Fl. 23885. Yours appears to be either a 23888, 23883, or 23887.

I beleive all 3 were used in various trainers, transprts and bombers. In bombers I beleive they were used in secondary positions, such as navigator or radio op.

If you remove it from the base, we can determine more .

Re: Ju188 cockpit instrument.

I removed it from its case, there appears to be no serial numbers. it does have a 360 degree indicator that rotates around the outside of the clock, and the outside edge has a straight knurled finish. There are no fixing holes, the housing is circular. The mechanism is clockwork with a wheel at the rear. Hope this helps......thanks.
