Re: SAAF Ju 52/3m

Clint

No idea what that V is all about. All I can say if it was a unit code marking it is out of sequence.
Known letter codes are 662/B, 664/D, 665/E, 666/F and 668/G and they all fall in the correct s/n
sequence.

The problem with SAAF Ju 52 is that either you can see their fuselage codes but then the outer engines
cover anything that is inside beneath the cockpit.
Also, unfortunately, most photos I have seen don't show any codes at all.
On the other hand, not all of the later 52s have a known code....

Nick
As far as I can make out none of the three photos sold show a two-blade version.
With three out of four SAA Ju 52/3m ge returned to Germany long before the outbreak of war
I would say there remained very little chance to see a SAAF 52 with a two-blade prop.
With regard to the dorsal gun I confess it looks like one, but the photo is so bad, it could be anything
just looking like that. Anyone who has heard of such a conversion? Lennart says nothing about any
such installment

Alex
SAAF captured a lot of Ju 52/3m in North Africa. Unfortunately nobody bothered about taking
notes what they had been before. Known s/n are 26-27, 29-38

Cheers
Stig
