In order to try and ascertain the identity of the He111 emblem below, does anybody have a loss for He111 WNr.3161, possibly serving with KG53?

Many thanks indeed khorat, I'd been through my GQM files but without any luck. Now that you've provided a date, off to have another look and see why I missed it!

Thanks again
Pete

Re: Loss details for He111, WNr.3161 possibly with KG53?

Going off on a slight tangent, but does anybody have any documentary proof of this emblem being associated with Stab./KG53 or do with think (as I do) that it is a personal emblem? I note from reading the entry for this unit in the excellent "Bomber Units of the Luftwaffe, Volume 1" by de Zeng IV & Stankey [Midland, 2007], that at the time of this loss, the unit had just relocated from Lille/France to Radom/central Poland with 6 (4) He111H's on strength. Photographs of these He111's seem pretty thin on the ground, so can anybody here throw any additional light on the use of this emblem?

Cheers

Re: Loss details for He111, WNr.3161 possibly with KG53?

Hi All,

Is the crew also known? Stabsstaffel had a Lt. Günter Felix (KIA, 8th Oct. 1941), maybe it was his personal emblem?

Regards, Thomas
