Re: Crecy Do 17 Corrections

Chris, and I believe there are some mistakes in correctly identifying Do 17 M and P subvariants.

Thanks. Difficulty was with these two variant that Ms served also with recce units with and without bomb sight bulges!

Re: Crecy Do 17 Corrections

There are other things probably more important than bomb sight, e.g. rear fuselage shape which in case of M was identical to Z, engine nacelles, intakes, exhaust pipes (also in case of M similar to Z and quite different than P). For example on p. 100 both a/c are Ms imho.

regards,
Pawel

Re: Crecy Do 17 Corrections

Thanks yet again Pawel. I was pointed out the nacelle differences but it was always a hard job differentiating as photographers rarely complied by standing in the right spot! As to page 100, I agree that StG 77 flew a mix of M and Ps but all the losses for LG 2 were Ps. Never easy is it!

Re: Crecy Do 17 Corrections

Chris, maybe it was the lucky one I am sure that the bottom a/c is also M sub variant. Attached please find an old ebay photo of another L2+ a/c which is in my opinion perfect example of an M (possibly L2+SR by the way).

Re: Crecy Do 17 Corrections

It´s a pity that few publishers think in creating a section for dowloadable files with corrections for their books... I remember well when I discovered some key mistakes as soon as my book was printed and to my horror I could not send them to the buyers. Unfortunately the publisher never did that to me so I could only sent the corrections to the ones I sold directly or give it as a gift... Maybe Crecy could think about this.
