Fliegerhorst KÖLN

Gentlemen..i have recently acquired a Luftwaffe EM's visor cap, piped yellow for flight, inside the sweatband is a date of April 1937, and a Lippstadt stamp, as well as Flg. H. Koln (fliegerhorst Koln)

Can anyone tell me what types of units were based at this airstation, and with the fliegerhorst being smaller in size, was this a part of the main airport or a separate Luftwaffe facility?

Re: Fliegerhorst KÖLN

Hi,

Is the Flg H Koln possibly the rank and name of the owner? I've never seen a cap with an airfield name in it before, or have I missed something?

Regards
David

I went to take a pic of the sweatband marking..typical contract cap, though with a nicer sweatband..possibly an issue item from the fields stores?
