Meteor stolen from RAF Molesworth - 20 Nov 1945
In the third week of November 1945 newspapers report the theft of a Gloster Meteor from RAF Molesworth by a disgruntled pilot.
The pilot had taken off without permission to do so, apparently "after a couple of beers" and it is believed he did so because he had been suspended from the conversion course to Meteors. The unauthorized flight was on or about 20 November 1945. RAF Molesworth had 124 Squadron with Meteors then? Who knows what happened to the pilot and Meteor involved? At that time a crash at an isolated spot was deemed likely as no immediate trace of the Meteor could be found. Thanks for any info. Regards, Leendert |
