Ju 88 G-1s on ZG 1

In January 1944, the first G-1 arrived on I./ZG 1 which rose to 6 by July 1944. III./ZG 1 had 3 G-1s in June and July 1944. The only Wk Nr I have is 710411/2N+BL lost 7 June 44. Logbooks reveal 2N+EB and 2N+MV on I./ZG 1 and 4C+BA and 4C+FA on III./ZG 1-can anyone come up with any other Wk Nr or codes?

Re: Ju 88 G-1s on ZG 1

Some relevant ULTRAs from June 1944:

CX/MSS/R223(C)

3. Source saw a return of 20/6 signed Gruppe III, TO addressed to Fliegerkorps X:
Technical strength return:
4) 6 Ju 88 G-1
3 Ju 88 R … (smudge)
(smudge) Ju 88 C-6
5) 6 Ju 88 G-1
2 Ju 88 R-2
2 Ju 88 C-6
7) 1 Ju 88 R-2
3 Ju 88 C-6
Ju 88 C-6 - 111
Ju 88 C-6 - 211
Ju 88 C-6 - 33

NOTES: 1) Source believes above from III./ZG 1.
2) Cf. MSS/T209/108 for possible explanation of proforma. 4) = actual strength ops a/c. 5) = No. of immediately serv. a/c. 7) = a/c us. In that case the total number of C-6 would be 5.

CX/MSS/R229(C)

10. Signed ZADIA ((III./ZG))1, Technical Officer on 24/6:

Technical strength return (all a/c are Ju 88):
Stab ZEAKE(+):
5) 1 R-2
6) 1 R-2
7) 0
ZABKO (((Roman) I./ZG)) 1:
5) 6 G-1, 2 R-2
6) 5 G-1
7) 1 G-1, 2 R-2 1 G-1 = 11, 1 R-2 = 11, 1 = 34
(smudge) 1:
5) 7 C-6
6) 5 C-6
7 2 C-6 1 = C11++, 1 = 3 1

NOTES: 1) Source believed above to Fliegerkorps X.
2) Cf. MSS/T209/108 and MSS/R223(C)3 for possible interpretation of proforma. It would appear however that 5, 6, 7 have here been used for 4, 5, 6, and that probable interpolations should be:
5) Total aircraft
6) Serviceable aircraft
7) Unserviceable aircraft
3) Meaning of ZEAKE not known
4) ++ C11 as given, but possibly slip for 111.

CX/MSS/R231(C)

22. A note dated 30/6 addressed to second ZG 1, Vannes, asked for Gefr. Hillebrand to be dispatched to Chateauroux.

NOTE: Chateauroux is location of 2./ZG 1. Reference at Vannes is presumably to rear detachment. Specific reference to second ZG 1 at Vannes last seen in January (MSS/T72/63).

23. From 2nd ZG 1 to (Roman) I./ZG 1 Corme Écluse, on 30/6: 2 further Ju 88 G-1 ready to be collected at Chateauroux.

24. From (Roman) I./ZG 1, TO, on 27/6: Among the Ju 88 G-1 (plural) delivered to us, W.Nr. 71221 (blot) 38, 40, 54, 58, 28, release gear for the rubber dinghy, (blot) FuG (B%101) equipment set, and FuG 16 equipment set are missing.

(word or 2 illegible) … grease container in the wing with change over pumps emergency rating airscrew Automatic.

Please inform us where a/c are to be flown over to for the subsequent installation as in their present condition an operation over the sea is not possible.
