Re: 15th Air Force in the East

Hello Monaco,

Re: Total US losses on FRANTIC III were 10 P-51s and 20 P-38s.

Frantic III ran from 22nd to 29th July 1944 if memory serves me right ?

Can you please supply details of these losses, ie serial numbers or Pilots names ?
14th Fighter Group (P-38).
31st Fighter Group. (P-51)
82nd Fighter Group. (P-38).

I understand that 72 P-38's and 41 P-51's arrived at their Soviet Bases.Six a/c being lost en-route.
I have the following:

22nd July,

28th July,
14th FG
MACR
7137 - 42-104090 - Reid - POW. ( cannot recal if this loss was part of Frantic III ).

Only possible P-51 loss for the 31st FG was -
30th July

Not part of Frantic III,

Re: 15th Air Force in the East

Alex Smart, indeed your info is correct. Anyone interested to study
the subject read the books : " The Poltava Disaster " "Fighting with
the Soviets " and watch various DVD's .All losses and victories are
listed in there. For some reason the Russians haven't published
any detailed books on Ops Frantic Joe and Frantic , they just speak
about it and yet blind regarding the mess Stavka has created overthere
especially the gifts the Soviets got out of the Frantic deals.

Re: 15th Air Force in the East

Hello Alex,
thanks a lot for the listing, I just saw it as had been occupied with private things over the last month. So your effort is not unnoticed and very welcomed.
