The name of Luftwaffe Pilot KIA in Libya...

Guys

Vaguely remember this story---maybe from Shores & co's 'Fighters over the Desert', maybe another book, I don't remember for sure but here goes:

This pilot, as far as I could tell was a Experte for JG27; he had an unusual habit: Whenever he scored a vic that was just a 'belly landing' he'd follow up & strafe the wreck (AFTER the Pilot vacated it of course) thoroughly to prevent it from being salvaged; he did it repeatedly in the book until one day he was caught 'wreck strafing' by another allied fighter & was shot down & killed;
So guys...anybody have any idea who this pilot was? Or did I misremember something?

TiA

It was Otto Schulz, who was KIA on June 17, 1942. He came down for a second run on the abandoned aircraft he was strafing (victory No. 51) and was shot down and killed. See page 130 of "Fighters Over The Desert."

David is correct, it was Schulz, who was claimed by my old friend, James F. (Stocky) Edwards of 260 RAF, later W\C and DFC and Bar, DFM. A real gentleman.
