Lw. transport units

In the book by Karl Kössler 'Transporter – wer kennt sie schon!' there are tables listing a/c of some Transportgruppen by Kennzeichen and Werknr. on 19-Jul-1943. It seems that the source is – Vermerk vom 19.7.1943 Transportfliegerführer 1, Nr. 950/43.

Does anybody happen to have access to this document?

regards,
Pawel

Re: Lw. transport units

Thank you Dirk, unfortunately I don't have access to the file.

The list is a bit of a puzzle to me as it has section named IV./T.G. 3 but I believe a/c of III. Gruppe are listed...

regards,
Pawel

Re: Lw. transport units

Another very interesting document is found in BA/MA RL 20/214. It is dated 6. April 1943 and list all transport units under Luftflotte 2 with unit, unit markings, Werk Nummer and Stammkennzeichen for each aircraft of the following units:

K.G.z.b.V. "N" with the units K.Gr.z.b.V. 106, K.Gr.z.b.V. 800, I./K.G.z.b.V. 323,
and the He 111 equipped Verb.Kdo. (S) 2.

K.G.z.b.V. "S" with the units K.Gr.z.b.V. 600, IV./K.G.z.b.V. 1 including the Savoia-Staffel

Hi Pawel,

Kössler's little soft-bound booklet is full of tables, too many to scan and attach to an e-mail. Have you tried searching for a used copy on eurobuch.com? It was published by Alba Buchverlag GmbH & Co. KG, Düsseldorf in August 1976, ISBN: 3-87094-410-2. The Table for IV./TG 3 is on page 47, by the way, and is dated 19 Juli 1943.

Re: Lw. transport units

Larry, I have a copy of the book itself but wondered if there were other Gruppen listed in original file.

Also I have some doubts about IV./T.G. 3 listing as the codes of a/c point to III. Gruppe (9.-12. Staffel) which flew in Soviet Union within Lfl. 6 in summer of 1943 confirmed by Flugbuch entries (+EW, +CW, +IU etc.) and at least one August 1943 loss (6830, 4V+GW).

Or possibly I am missing something...

regards,
Pawel

Re: Lw. transport units

Pawel,

the listing for IV./TG3 is correct. The unit was renámed in May 1943 from I./KGzbV172, which flew with 4V+xD,T,U,V,W. The IV./TG3 continued their operations with these codes until May 1944!
