Buried at Newark CWGC
We are after more info to fill in background details on the following men from the RAF buried in the Newark on Trent CWGC plot if anybody can help :
SILLS, ERNEST RONALD Rank: Aircraftman 2nd Class Service No: 1834350 Date of Death: 15/03/1943 Age: 28 KING, FREDERICK CHRISTOPHER Rank: Leading Aircraftman Trade: U/T Air Gunner Service No: 1661903 Date of Death: 22/06/1943 Age: 20 MATTHEWS, JOHN STUART Rank: Flying Officer Service No: 155552 Date of Death: 28/05/1945 Age: 24 Regiment/Service: Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve 138 Sqdn. Awards: D F M Grave Reference: Sec. B. West. Grave 326. Cemetery: NEWARK-UPON-TRENT CEMETERY Additional Information: Son of John William and Agnes McQueen Matthews, of Newark. During World War II, it was reformed in 1941, from No. 1419 Flight, as No. 138 (Special Duties) Squadron. It was based initially at RAF Stradishall, then at RAF Tempsford. It carried out this role until March 1945 when it was reassigned to Bomber Command, operating under No. 3 Group. No loss found. King was killed whilst flying in Botha I, W5156 of No 4 AGS, which crashed as it was attempting a 'go-round' at Morpeth when an engine failed.
