VVS Order of Battle 22 June 1941 New Information

Gentlemen,

Background:
In 2001, a group of authors, lef by Vitalii Ivanovich Fes'kov, wrote and published a book detailing the order of battle on the Red Army (Krasniya Armiya v Uyune 1941 goda) in soft bound.
There were several errors in it and the book after weel-used fell apart.
In 2003, a second edition, hard bound, came out. It corrected some of the errors, but not all.

Recently (March/April 2007), Fes'kov put on the Russian soldat.ru web site an MSExcel fil containing many corrections to the 2003 edition in the VVS Section, including a detailed order of battle for the Divisions (one worksheet) and a summary of every Regiment in the VVS and PVO as of 22 June, including location and aircraft quantities (second worksheet).

Best OB so far yet known and compliments the Statistical Digest very nicely.

The file is in Russian, but I am in the process of translating it into English and modifiying it a little bit to make it easier to read.

Here is the link for the file:

Gents,

ok, here is where I am so far.

I have completed the overall summary. I still have to work on the list of Regiments.

Re: VVS Order of Battle 22 June 1941 New Information

Hi
Goood job, :-)
There are some specific question about OdB of VVS RKKA?
First. What about smaller unit like independent flight (zvionos) or independent squadrons (in the corps level, reccon units - "KAO")?
Second. What about VVS VMF aviation unit?
Third. What about civil aviation, which after 22 Vi was changed into transpot, laison ect military support aviation?
Fourth: what about small, but aviation, NKVD air units?

Regards

Mirek Wawrzyński

PS
You project also including presenting the strengh of VVS RKKA (planes, pilots , servicable, nonservicable planes)?

Re: VVS Order of Battle 22 June 1941 New Information

Mirek,

I am not providing any new informatoin.

All I am doing is providing a link to the original Russian file and translating this into English for those that cannot read Russian.

Plus change the format a little bit to make it easier to read.

The aircraft quantities will be in the new file, which will be ready in about 7-10 days.

The original file did not have any information on the units you mentioned.

Hi
thanks for information,
In such OdB (on this level) there are not full strengh presented of VVS RKKA, the same if concerning amount of the plane.
The differences in the strnegh are about 300-500 planes less as on 22 VI.
You may see in if concerning Leningrat Miliitary Distric, where there were aditional 13 next independents squadrons (reccon, sanitary ect.) pararel to the regiments standard units.

Regrads,
Mirek Wawrzyński

Hi Konev,

thanks for the information so far! Well-readable indeed. I'd like to compare the data with that I have already, because in that old data the overall numbers seem so incredibly high and there were some obvious errors.

Looking foreard to your update...
