Losses of Fw 190s of SG 4

Hi Many

Luftwaffe im Focus No. 24 has a list of losses that II./SKG 10 (later redesignated II./SG 4) suffered in October 1943. The same list can be found in the French translation of the magazine on page 9:

http://www.luftfahrtverlag-start.de/...anzoesisch.pdf

Hopefully others can provide the losses for I./SG 4 and I hope this helps somewhat.

Horrido!

Leo

Thank you very much Leo

I will by tomorrow this issue.

I have seen a long time ago, some photographs in color showing the same insignia of II./ SG 4 (in diffrerent colour) in a magazine, do you think it was also in other issue of Luftwaffe im Focus ?

By advance thank you.

Re: Losses of Fw 190 of SG 4

Hi,

I./S.G. 4 (formerly II./Sch.G. 2) was also in Italy, at Piacenza resting and refitting. Those I./Schl.G. 4 losses on the Eastern Front in October 1943 were misreported due to confusion about recent unit re-designations.

Cheers,
Andrew A.

Re: Losses of Fw 190 of SG 4

Andreas,
When I compare the data in 108267 and 110908 I find an Uffz. Rudolf Metzig and an Uffz. Rudolf Matzig. The first one in Fw190 7110, the second in Fw190 0071. Both MIA.
Is that correct?
Frans A

Re: Losses of Fw 190 of SG 4

Thanks Andreas

Very interesting data. I think I have located almost all aircraft.
However I am just as puzzled as Frans A about WNr 7110 since I cannot locate any G model having such a number.

I also find it very odd that two pilots then have almost identical names in the unit and on top gets killed almost the same day.

Have you or anyone else anything to add?

Stig
