Re: What unit escorted the Ju 88 R "defection"?

Many thanks for the additional info, gents!

Melvin, many thanks for the info about the fuselage codes and for the photos. Superb!

Mervyn, I'd love to see that picture you have of AB921.

Chris, thanks for joining in. I am most curious about the photos and combat report you have. I'll drop you a pm.

Re: What unit escorted the Ju 88 R "defection"?

Silly question perhaps, but who would normally be firing the verey lights on a Ju 88, and where from?

Chris, does the combat report mention anything about the weather at the time?

I am just trying to get an as complete as possible picture of the event

Re: What unit escorted the Ju 88 R "defection"?

Hi,
Don't know which issue but there was this story in Air Enthusiast some years ago and IIRC the father of one of the crew was a Diplomant in Switzerland, who had once been so in the UK.
Unless that was another aircraft with radar equiptment.

Hello JUNKER..
Nice information!
Would you had access to it? I mean, have you checked his Do 217 flights and the flight of 9th May 1943? Do you have the take off time?
Yours
Adriano
