IV./St.G. 77
We all know Günther Schwarzkopff's head was used as a Staffel badge in his former Geschwader. Ever since Karl Ries, it has been identified as 12./St.G. 77.
But AFAIK there was no IV./St.G. 77. So...? Chris Last edited by CJE; 30th September 2015 at 10:44. |

Re: IV./St.G. 77
Yes, there was a IV. Gruppe!
IV. (Erg)/St.G. 77 was formed on 17 November 1942 and on 17 May 1943 became IV./St.G. 151. For a more complete story about this and other units , see our new Book “Ground Attack Units of the Luftwaffe, A Reference Source” (title not set yet) to be released late summer/fall this year (we expect). It is 70 to 80% based on previously unpublished primary documentation and covers all the non-naval ground attack units; St.G., S.G., Schl.G., NSGr. Units and various panzerjäger type units, plus numerous oddballs. It will also contain expanded biographies for about 20 of the top ground attack commanders. Larry deZeng IV Doug Stankey |
