George James Denis Free French

Hello
In the article on James Denis published in the french magazine ACES N°13,according to the author, the day of his first claim (Fiat CR 42),3 Fiat G.50 were shot down by the RAF.
????my consulted sources (MAW Vol.1) don't speak of that Fiat G.50!

Idem (21/04/41)
"the pair" Denis-F/O Goodman claims a Stuka...the same sources mention 1 Stuka 1/2 each.what about the stuka claimed alone?

What about all this?

Michel

I don't have the publication in question, but according to Shores/Williams, Denis first claim was on 14 April 1941, so that is where I checked. Does the article state a different date?

On that date (in MAW 1 page 158) No 73 Sq claimed 2 Fiat G.50 as shot down and 2 G.50 as damaged.

I believe you need to contact the author of the article and check from where he has located three claimed G.50 on that date. Perhaps he considered two damaged as equal to one complete....?

Again checking MAW 1 page 168, the three claimed Ju 87 (2 x 1½) by Denis and Goodman are all in there. What is it you are actually wondering about?

Cheers
Stig

Re: George James Denis Free French

Hi Stig

His first victory is the 10/04/41 (Fiat CR 42) according to the magazine.

21/04/41,it is mentioned ONLY 1 Stuka claimed (shares) with Goodmann.

It's incomprehensible.

Regards
Michel

Well Michel

Can't help you with the article. Better check with the author via the Editor
Shores and various co-authors, depending which of his books you consult, are all consistent. Denis first claim was on the 14th, not the 10th

Cheers
Stig
