– S/LDR Reginald George Williams DFC AFM 43077 RAF [35]; Pilot – and a Do 17 forced to crash
Hello all,
Whilst flying a Wellington at an OTU in late 1941 - believed to be either 15 or 21 OTU and before 23 December 1941 when he crashed and was killed, Williams a "few" weeks earlier is reported to have caused a DO 17 intruder to crash, date unknown, when he was attacked by the German, evaded the attack, got above the Dornier and flew it into the ground. Can anyone verify this and who this might have be. An initial search of the usual sources has left me without any leads. Regards Russell |

Do 17 intruders had all but disappeared by Autumn 1941 to be replaced by Ju 88Cs. The last Do 17Z-10 to be lost over UK was 8 May 41. Do 17 bombers had also gone from British skies assuming you are talking about an incident over UK

'Flew it into the ground'? Sounds like the stuff of legend.
