Oblt. Albrecht Bellstedt

Albrecht Bellstedt (b. 18 February 1922 at Bremen) was particularly successful operating Ju 88 C's over the Bay of Biscay with V./KG 40 and I./ZG 1. When the latter unit disbanded in August 1944, Bellstedt was posted as Stkpn. of 9./JG 2. On 21 october 1944, he was killed near Limburg-Montabaur.

Is anyone able to shed light on the circumstances surrounding Bellstedt's death?

Many thanks
Gordon

Just for those who are interested:

Bellstedt was also the one to down a civil BOAC a/c
on 06/01/1943 !

from http://www.bscine.com/html/ww2.doc :
...
Leslie Howard, the distinguished actor, director and producer of THE LAMP STILL BURNS, lost his life at approximately 12.50 hrs. on June 1st 1943 while a passenger on board a civil airliner when it was shot down over the Bay of Biscay by Oblt. Albrecht Bellstedt, the pilot of a Luftwaffe Junkers 88. The Douglas DC3, GAGBB, ex. KLM, PH-ALI “Ibis” on charter to British Overseas Airways from KLM, was on a flight from Lisbon to the BOAC wartime base at Whitchurch, near Bristol. The 17 souls on board included the four Dutch crew, eleven adult passengers, a child and an infant. There were no survivors and it is not known if this attack on a civil aircraft was intentional or if it was a tragic mistake.

IIRC Bellstedt was one of several JG 2 pilots downed in a battle against P-47s but I can't remember where I saw this.
