HE111 Wnr 2472

Hallo,

Found this Wnr plate on a Swedish forum. It does not seems to correspond to any of the HE111 that ended up in Sweden during the war.

Does anyone have any detals of the fait of HE111 Wnr 2472?

Thank you

Peter

Re: HE111 Wnr 2472

hi,
this is not the main data plate of a he 111. this palte comes from the factory "land & see" which produced parts for land- and seaplanes. the wnr. is the wnr. of a part of a he 111!
regards
jim

Re: HE111 Wnr 2472

Its "my" plate that are discussed here, so i would appreciate any help or info.
What i know the plane went down 21/4-1940 at När on the island of Gotland in Sweden.
I found it when a old relative of mine passed away a few years ago, together with some photos.
I was in contact with the author of "Emergencylanding" (Nödlandning)
And he supplied me with some additional pics from the aircraft where you could see the Wnr, earlier it have been listed as 2470 in the book.
So if any body have some info feel free to share it with me since this area is not my "strong" side.

Best regards

Some pics from the crashsite, the crew burned the plane before Swedish forces captured them.

Re: HE111 Wnr 2472

I found some more info on the plane.
B3+CM, HE111 P-1, 4./KG54.
Bombing mission Norway.
Im not so well informed over the different abbreviations, but im sure someone on this forum knows.

Re: HE111 Wnr 2472

This a/c was the B3+CM, belly landing near När/Österviken, destroyed by the crew. Lt. Alfred Kiefer (FF), Uffz. Richard Marbordt (BO), Uffz. Johann Hommer (BF), Flg. Guntram Engert (BS). But there is another He 111 of 4./KG 4 near Mästermyr/Gotland for the same day, B3+JM, crew Lt. Stute. Both run out of fuel. Target for this day was the railway between Steinkjer and Drontheim.

Regards, Heuser
