Which RAF Squadron dropped SOE agent Tazelaar

I hope someone can help me with my question.

I hope someone knows which RAF (Special Duty) squadron dropped the Dutch SOE agents Peter Tazelaar and Lykele Faber in the night of 1/2 November 1944. He jumped out of a Lancaster he told is his book.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Rene

Unfortunately, Foot does not identify the aircraft involved in the drop of Tazelaar, Faber and van de Spiegle, nor Barme,

I'd never heard of Lancs dropping agents.

Stirlings and Hali's yes, but not Lancs.

Re: Which RAF Squadron dropped SOE agent Tazelaar

Thank you everyone for all your great help. Could it be 161 squadron who dropped Tazelaar en Faber in the night of 31oct/1nov. 1944?

Tazelaar told in his book that he jumped out of a Lanc. that night. But I also was very curious if this was correct.

Re: Which RAF Squadron dropped SOE agent Tazelaar

The only SD unit operating on 31st October 1944 was five sorties by 570 Sqn flying Stirlings, none of the sorties was successful

Dudley3 (2 sorties), Draughts5, Criena3, Rummy16

161 Sqn never touched a Lanc during WWII

Re: Which RAF Squadron dropped SOE agent Tazelaar

Hello all,

I might be missing something but Rene alias Mystex asked which aircraft dropped Tazelaar in the night of 1/2 November 1944. The answers given refer to droppings in the night of 18/19 November and SD units operating on 31st October 1944...

According to my info BBO agents Tazelaar and Faber were dropped in Operation Criena 2 by a Stirling of 620 Sqdn.RAF, flown by a F/S Kay. Agent Barme was dropped in the same night during Operation Rummy 21, another Stirling of 620 Sqdn.RAF flown by a F/O Russell. Unless Tazelaar and Faber returned soon to the UK - not likely from the occupied Netherlands - it seems unlikely that both men were dropped again in the night of 18/19 November 1944.

Best regards, Marcel
