Norwegian pilot in Luftwaffe
Hi guys
I have read that a Norwegian pilot in the Luftwaffe participated in the attack against convoy PQ-18 - therefore KG26 or KG30 - and was shot down and taken prisoner; apparently his crew were killed. 13/14 September 1942. Has anyone any information, please? Cheers Brian |

Re: Norwegian pilot in Luftwaffe
According to the loss lists available to me, no Luftwaffe airman was captured during the PQ 18 battles. Most crew just went missing. The crew of a He 111 was rescued at sea by a He 115, and the crew of a He 115 was rescued by an U-boat.

No Norwegian pilots joined KG 26 og KG 30 during the War.

Re: Norwegian pilot in Luftwaffe
Hi guys
The story is mentioned in the 1943 book "Dynamite Cargo" (Cassell & Co) by American Fred Herman. The next question - was this book fiction? Cheers Brian |
