A JU88 crashed at "La Feuillie" in August 1944

Good evening;

I am tracing the identity of a J88 that crashed in August 1944 (unfortunately, I don't know the day) at La Feuillie, in Normandy, 8 km West of Périers and 15 km North of Coutances.

Any clue ?

Thanks as usual;

GC

Re: A JU88 crashed at "La Feuillie" in August 1944

Thanks Merci Alain,

your list concerns only nightfighter "G" type,

I suppose there were probably many other standard JU88 (A4, A5 ..) shot down that month, right ?

One small hick up Rudi

You report WNr 8643 as destroyed both on Aug 2nd and 3rd.
I believe the 3rd is correct.

Re: A JU88 crashed at "La Feuillie" in August 1944

Thanks Guys,

your list makes sens, Rudi: a part from this aircraft (see picture) has some yellow, thus, this JU88 might have been on the eastern front before going to Normandy.

and you are absolutely right, without a date, it will be tough, that is why I asked to the owner of the part to try to find the exact day.

Maybe he will find it? Then, I will let you know;

cheers

GC

Re: A JU88 crashed at "La Feuillie" in August 1944

Hi Stig,

Thanks for pointing that out. The entries for August 2nr & 3rd should read:
- 02-Aug-44 Ju 88 A4 ? B3+?L 3./54 near CAUMONT ?
- 03-Aug-44 Ju 88 A4 8643 B3+RL 3./54 France

This could be one and the same loss however.

Regards,
Rudi.

Difficult for me to say Rudi

Checking Radtke he has nothing for the 2nd.
Your logo however indicates you know a lot more about this unit than I do...

Cheers
Stig

Re: A JU88 crashed at "La Feuillie" in August 1944

Hi Stig,

The entry of August the 2nd is on page 336 of his book. Like I mentionned above this could well be the same loss as the one on the 3rd.

Regards,
Rudi.

Re: A JU88 crashed at "La Feuillie" in August 1944

Gilles,

there are some 90 Ju 88 losses reported for August 1944 in Nonthern France.

They are mainly from KG 6, 30, 54, 66, LG 1 and NJG 2 and 4. Most of the crews are reported missing during a mission given with a very general location (Northern France, Invasionsraum, Normandie).

I'm afraid it is hopeless without more details to identify this specific aircraft.
