832 Sqn aircrew

G'day,

I'm after the names of the 832 Sqn Albacore crews who took part in the unsuccessful attack on the Tirpitz on 9th March 1942. The strike comprised 12 a/c, seven of 832 Sqn and five of 817, from HMS Victorious.

Lt-Cdr WJ Lucas, 832 CO, led the attack. A/c serials and codes would also be of interest.

Bruce

Re: 832 Sqn aircrew

Bruce;

Virtually all of HMS Victorious's Air Groups record were destroyed when the ship was bombed in August 1942, by the blast and the subsequent fire. This included, specifically, all the aircrew logbooks and Squadron ORBs. Unfortunately the RN never adopted a policy for off loading such records

Re: 832 Sqn aircrew

I remembered that I'd previously found the 832 Sqn Diary at UK Archives after logging off yesterday . So obviously not all the records were lost in August 1942.

Think I'll wait until the diary has been digitised, as it isn't urgent. Thank you for the links Andy.
