Re: Luftwaffe Gun Camera Footage

By the way, did anyone come across guncam film of Wolfgang Spaete of his downing of a B-25 Mitchell on 25 Sep 1944?

Re: Luftwaffe Gun Camera Footage

BTW, there were stills from his GC shooting down a Spitfire in his book " Top Secret Bird"

This Y/T content provider (hw97karbine) has a great collection of Gun Camera footage, and other historical films, with no sound or music added.

This clip has the only film of a B25 I have ever seen==AFAIK it even still has it's invasion stripes on.

Forward to the 31 second mark.

Yes, I have seen that, but is it the one? Reputedly it is at IWM collection.

Re: Luftwaffe Gun Camera Footage

A deeply unpleasant video but the reality of it all behind the 'pretty' aeroplanes, statistics, units etc many focus on.

I always thought the close-up of the B17 getting a close-range pounding and bits flying off it without any counter fire that was shown on The World At War was disturbing but the footage at the end of this video of the close attack on the B24 with multiple cannon fire explosions on the rear gunner position was horrifying and bears little thinking about.

RIP brave young men.
