Uffz Berthold Jochinke 11.JG 77 (fate is known)?

Good afternoon to all members.

Does anyone knows the fate and whereabouts of Uffz Berthold Jochinke from JG 77? Did he survive WW2? What happened to him? Last info I do have is from August 1944....till the end of the war much water flowed below bridges.

Any information most welcomed.

Adriano

In November 1944 he was still with III./JG 77 and also in January 1945. I believe he survived. In Ancestry there is a Berthold Jochinke born in 1924 (match) and died in 2006 in Berlin. Could be him.

Hi Adriano,

I was in touch in the 90ies with him. He was still living in Berlin.
So, confirmed, he survived the war.

Happy New Year!
Erik

ERIK, I also do wish you and yours a wonderful 2023.

PLEASE, would you know if he flew until the end (May 1945)? John do say that it seems he was flying up to January 1945, but and after? Did he stay with 11./JG 77 until the end? Would you know how many combat sorties (Feindflüge) he flew overall?

Adriano

Hello.
According to data from FB and LB Uffz. Rolf Buck of 9./JG 77 was Jochinke's witness on 9.2. and 4.4.1945. He then apparently left for the Me 262, much like Ofw. Albert Ullrich of 6./JG 77.
