Kampfgeschwader 4 "General Wever" crew details

Still after a few more details to aircrew if anyone can add anymore info :

Lt Bernhard Metzmacher : 4/KG 4 - 1941
2/KG 4 - 1942
DKiG - 24/6/43
Promoted Oblt 43
Stab. KG 4 10/43 - 3/44

Uffz Otto Groper : WIA 8/2/42

OFw Kurt Hell : DKiG 15/10/42
WIA 29/10/42

OFw Heinz Moller : DKiG 4/1/43
Possibly KIA 2/3/44 in Estonia

Uffz ? Berger , I know this one is a long shot but he was in a He 111 with Oblt Ulrich Knauth , OFw Johann Schumm , OFw Kurt Hell and OFw Heinz Moller on a raid to Newark on Trent 7/3/41

Re: Kampfgeschwader 4 "General Wever" crew details

I have

Metzmacher, Bernhard Bo Oblt (24/6/43) DKiG 24/6/43 II./KG 4

Hell, Kurt ? Stfw (15/10/42) DKiG 15/10/42 6./KG 4

Möller, Heinz Bf Obfw (4/1/43) DKiG 4/1/43 6./KG 4

All from Andy Fletcher's DKiG database (see http://www.wiki.luftwaffedata.co.uk/...itle=Downloads

Not much extra and a little confusing with regard to units.

Re: Kampfgeschwader 4 "General Wever" crew details

With Uffz Otto Groper being WIA 8/2/42 the other 3 crew were killed. Lt Rudolph , Uffz Hahn and Hans Schwarz when He 111 5J+JH was hit by flak near Shchekotets. If he was invalided out the service would there be anyway of tracing this through either military or civil records. Is there a database of wound badge recipients ? Same with Kurt Hell.

Noggin,

If you go back to the downloads page you will find a pdf version of the file there now (fully searchable). Its a straight export from the .xls format file.

Shaun

No database of wound recipients-it would be massive. Again, if the person was not a casualty, the chances of an easy trace are very hard. Records are available but it costs time, money and luck-10 years ago would have been easy (if they still exist) but with Data Protection, it has become very hard Remember we are talking 75 years ago......

Re: Kampfgeschwader 4 "General Wever" crew details

Thanks , I think this search is at an end then unless I stumble on some data by more luck than judgement again. I've ordered that book Chronik Kampfgeschwader 4 General Wever by Karl Gundelach which had Lt Rudolph's account of his forced land , so there maybe fingers crossed some other gems in there. It's in German so it may take me sometime but least the names should be in the index with any luck.

Re: Kampfgeschwader 4 "General Wever" crew details

Had a look on Kracker Luftwaffe Archive found a few Berger's on there but none in KG4. Only Ernst Berger to show up was in 8KG-77 kia 2/22/43 in Ju 88A-4 Werk # 142343 @ Piacenza Emilia-Romagna Italy.
